A Carefree Elopement by the Sea
For the past few years, I’ve been falling more and more in love with shooting in the morning. There's something magical about those early hours — brighter colours, soft golden light, and the quiet hush before the world fully wakes up. Morning shoots feel unhurried, intimate, and full of possibility.
This elopement in Positano captured everything I adore about mornings. Just the two of them, no fuss, simple, relaxed, and joyful. We began the day in their charming villa nestled in the cliffs, where vaulted ceilings and Vietri tile floors created a timeless setting. The light streamed through the windows as they shared coffee and laughter, easing into the day.
When the bride first reached out, she shared that she’d been feeling a little anxious about being in front of the camera. During their engagement session with another photographer, she’d been constantly pushed to be “more energetic,” and it left her feeling overwhelmed, even though the photos themselves were beautiful.
That really stayed with me, because I believe your photos should remind you not just of how beautiful the day looked, but how good it felt. Your experience in front of the lens should be just as meaningful as the images you take away. No pressure, just connection, laughter, and the little moments that are yours alone.
After leaving the villa, we wandered the winding streets of Positano, the couple twirling hand in hand, soaking in every moment. We paused for photos with the sweetest lemon-yellow Fiat 500, a pop of vintage charm against the pastel buildings.
Their vows were exchanged high above the sea, overlooking the Li Galli islands along the rugged Amalfi coastline. A favourite spot of mine outside of the town on Positano on the Amalfi Coast. This quiet grove by the roadside, with its sweeping views and golden morning light, felt like it was made just for the two of them. Her bouquet of wildflowers perfectly mirrored the untamed beauty of the long grass around us, nature in harmony. A chorus of cicades serenading in the background, the perfect summer orchestra.
We ended the morning with a stop at a vibrant roadside stand for a refreshing Granita di Limone.
Elopements like this remind me why I love what I do. No stress, no timelines—just connection, beauty, lemons, and the glow of the morning sun.
