What To Wear For Your Amalfi Coast Photoshoot

Many couples ask what to wear for their photo shoot on the Amalfi coast, so here are a few tips and ideas I have gained over the years of shooting all types of weddings, proposals, engagements, anniversaries, maternity and family photos.

1. Wear comfortable shoes.
This usually means low heeled shoes, and you may wish to bring a change of shoes with you.
The Amalfi coast has a lot of stairs, cobble stone streets, and often uneven pavement, which makes walking in heels a challenge sometimes. So if you  need to, bring a pair of cute but comfortable shoes to change into. Whenever possible try to wear shoes you are happy being photographed in. Plan ahead, and bring low, cute, comfortable shoes.

2. Wear something you are comfortable in, and that you can move easily in. If you are feeling selfconscious or something about you outfit makes you fidget, there is nothing that breaks the mood of a shoot more than uncomfortable clothing.

3. The best colours are usually simple combinations that work with the natural landscape. White, blue, green, yellow, etc... You can of course also get creative, but keep in mind the town you are shooting in and the overall look you want to achieve.

4. Accessories are great to add a little personality to your shoot. Sun glasses, a hat, a scarf, a fan, really anything that we can play around with.

5. The best images are usually not only beautiful, but ones that have meaning. So when you are planning the shoot and your outfit, think about what you are trying to say with your photos. For example if you want to have wedding portraits, easy, you will want to wear wedding attire. But if instead you want to capture for example your Amalfi coast honeymoon, you may wish to do something more informal, maybe even for example beach wear at a beach club, and then change into something more formal later.
Not sure, just ask, I am always happy to answer questions and offer solutions and ideas.

6. Bring a small towel if you sweat in the summer. A fan can do double duty as an accessory and to keep you fresh.

7. If you want to go on the beach you may need to take off your shoes. Some of the beaches (like Positano and Amalfi) are pebble beaches which some people find hard to walk on without shoes, so again spare shoes can be helpful.

Outfit Changes:

Some people like to do an outfit change during the shoot, which is totally fine, but it is important to discuss the logistics of this before beginning the shoot if possible. It can be problematic to carry a change of clothing with us as this stops the movement as we walk around town. Also appropriate places to change are not always easy to find, so if you want to do an outfit change the best way is to usually go back to your hotel part way through the shoot.
If you do have to bring a bag with you on the shoot, try to keep it as light andd easy to carry as possible.

Don't be afraid to change your look during the session, but try to let me know beforehand so we can coordinate our route before the day of the shoot.

I have been living on the Amalfi Coast for many years, and am full of ideas. I work patiently to help you make a plan that is customized to your vision and needs. Anywhere from a private location, such as an amazing historic villa, to a beautiful quiet spot off the beaten path. It can be as curated or as simple as you picture it to be.
After capturing quite a few proposals over the years I have realized there is a LOT of preasure to make your proposal perfect (especially for the person proposing). So please get in touch and let me guide you with experience and local knowledge.

"Wow these pictures are incredible! Thank you for capturing our special memoment so perfectly. We are over the moon about them!!"

One of the deciding factors to find the best location for your proposal is - Where are you staying?

Some popular locations on the Amalfi coast are:

Positano, Ravello, Amalfi, Atrani

But the Amalfi coast has many other less known locations with some spectacular views.

You can of course choose any location for your proposal, but the best time of day is usally early morning or around sunset, so make sure the location you choose makes sense with this in mind.
Other good questions to ask yourself are:
What is your budget? Do you want a private location?
Not sure what is right for you? No problem, just ask.
I speak fluent English and Italian, and I always answer messages and emails. If you do not receive a response within 24 hours please reach out again. Email or Whatsapp are the most reliable methods for quick communication.

Lets make your dream proposal real.
